The impact of using a reverse proxy is most noticeable if you get a lot of traffic. When combined with a caching plugin (such as WP Rocket), your server will be able to serve thousands of requests concurrently.
Enabling the NGINX reverse proxy for a domain
- In Sites and Databases > Domains, click on Add Domain (or edit an existing domain)
- Check the Proxy static files option
- You can add or remove file extensions. Only files with those extensions will be proxied - other files will be served by Apache
- If you use WP Rocket, select the "Optimize for WP Rocket" option
- Save your settings
